Dream Doll Chest
As far back as I can remember dolls have been in my life. I remember some of my dolls from when I was a child in the 60s. Some of them were well known like Betsy Wetsy, Thumbelina and Barbie to more obscure dolls like my Mattel talking Shrinking Violet and Ideal’s Pebbles. That’s right, Pebbles from the Flintstones, right down to the bone in her hair.
When I reached my pre-teen years, Barbie became my doll obsession. I would quietly play with my latest Barbie for hours on end all by myself, perfectly content to do so.
When I reached young adulthood collectible dolls became the norm partly due to my Mom’s influence. She would collect Madame Alexander dolls for her granddaughter and that rubbed off on me. I’ve been collecting Madame Alexander dolls now for more than 35 years. As I got older Marie Osmond dolls became my favorite and I had acquired close to 100 over the years.
In recent years, my doll interests run the gamut from Robert Tonner Patsy, Ann Estelle, and Betsy McCall, his line of Ellowyne Wilde & Tyler Wentworth dolls, Helen Kish 8” Riley and Friends and Bethanys, to the Dianna Effner line of Little Darling dolls hand-painted by various artists. I’ve just recently become interested in BJDs like Lorella Falconi, Jun Planning, Pullip, and DAL dolls.
As you can see my doll interests are varied but still have one thing in common, they are all mostly child dolls. I guess that may spring from when my first love of dolls began, as a child myself.
